Raising Young People Moulding Minds

As a young adult in the University, my idea of success and life after school was defective, it was the picture I saw around – finish from school, get a job, work the job, ‘settle down’ AKA get married, have assets, raise children and that was all.

This was the path I was towing although I had some opportunities to learn about living with a vision, purpose discovery and similar line of thoughts, but they sounded vague to me at the time.

Still in the University, on this day of destiny, I was on my way to class in the company of a friend. As we walked into the lecture room, we had a normal conversation, so I thought about life and life after school. I was already in the 4th year at this time.

And then, my friend, Bodunrin, asked a life-defining question; he said, “Is there more than this?” For the first time in my life, I had no answer to a ‘simple’ question like I thought this was. We had talked about the course we were studying and some other conversations on life after school before he asked the questions.

I felt so bad for the rest of that day, clueless, helpless and ashamed. Being a first-class student and a brilliant chap, I always had answers to almost every question. But not that day. Then, the HolySpirit reminded me of the Scripture, “Call unto me and I will answer you and show you GREAT and MIGHTY things which YOU DO NOT KNOW.” Jeremiah 33:3.

This was an answer I did not know; then I knew I had to ask God. So I took three days out to pray and to fast, April 10, 11 and 12th of the year 2011. My request was simple, “Is there more to my life than this.” While in my University dormitory on the 12th day, I had the HolySpirit say to me,

“I am sending you to young people, instil in their hearts the fear of God; teach them my ways; bring them to my knowledge; establish my word in their lives; build youth development centres across the continents of the world.”

This assignment propelled my flight with a new perspective to life with lots of meaning and mission as against my previous idea of success. Eventually, this led to the corporate vision of Young Breeds and MindMould.

As I went about this mission through the pathways of youth ministry and higher education, God gave an addition to the assignment. This time, it was to mould the minds of people so they can achieve their personal and corporate goals.

I understood this more as I studied more and got more insights on the power of the mind. Yes, your spirit connects you to God, but your mind connects you to the physical realm; it gives your body instructions on the actions to take.

The mind is like the middle man between the spirit and the body, whatever instructions God gives to your spirit, you still need to stretch the mind to bring it to physical reality. How do you stretch the mind? Learning and development – through training, coaching, mentorship. You can summarise the skills the mind needs into what UNICEF calls, “Life Skills,” some others call them ‘soft skills,’ but there’s nothing soft about them really. They are the core skills that stretches the boundaries of the mind to achieve great feats and deliver stellar performances both as an individual and as an institution.

I was at the edge of my chair during the class and could not take my eye off the screen

My experience with Dr. Abraham Owoseni was very insightful. I was at the edge of my chair during the class and could not take my eye off the screen nor could I break from writing. I have known Dr. Abraham since 2022 and I have appreciated his gifts from afar ever since; even though he doesn’t know me, he inspires me. It was a privilege having to listen to him teach ‘The Power of Potential’ for the second time, it was fresh and re-inspiring. This time, I would make a better use of his free gift towards discovering my potentials and taking the next step in refining them. The quotes were truly insightful; I had to write them all. And, how he identified the potentials in bible characters, mimicked what they must have said to themselves to identify their gifts and how they made use of them. Also, the stories he shared to explain how God expressed his power through the gifts he has given us. All these stood out for me because I realized I could apply the identification process as those characters did. Now my new mindset says: That I should convert my potential to the skill version to make it easily presentable and accessible by the world.

I can best describe him as someone who impacts lives with the entirety of his being

I enjoyed the way he relayed the relationship between work and career. I saw a new perspective to what career really means, especially when it is seen as a vehicle through which one can give maximum expression to one’s purpose in life. From the session, I realised that it is easy to learn, adapt, and grow, even with life’s changes, when there is a sense of purpose behind all that we do. I was particularly motivated to learn more skills that would help me become more efficient and effective even as I graduate from the University. I loved the teaching of working towards one's goals which reminds me of the fact that one must learn to love the process that gets one to the achievement of his/her goals, not just the end results. And he is also very committed to his vision. I've gone back to the drawing board, to look at what ingredients my leadership style was lacking and also fine-tuned it to what works for me. I was fighting laziness, procrastination and ability to be more international about growth in all areas of life. I was also concerned about not really having a mentor I can always reach out to as well as not having real friends/ friends and siblings that are intentional about their growth in some areas of life. Before now, I always had unfinished tasks, I write books but due to my lack of planning it takes me a far longer time than necessary to write. I really saw the need to bring order to my life, as I found out that my lack of self-management, had led to me putting off a lot of important things that needed intervention, plus I felt disorganized and aimless. This was a wakeup call to me, on the importance of setting goals in different areas of life, so as to achieve progress in those areas. I discovered that if I don't set goals and program how i would make motion - a lot of things would remain static and I wouldn't record growth in those areas. I have decided to make use of sticky notes to both "ink" my goals and also keep them before me; i trust it will add effectiveness to my life. I have never had any up-close encounter with Dr. Abraham but being in each of his sessions has motivated me to be more intentional in the area of relationships and digital literacy. What strikes me the most is how practical his sessions are and how simple they are to understand.

Teaching is in Dr Abraham's core; he is indeed blessed with wisdom for his life's purpose

I loved the passion of the facilitator, the clearness of terms, the relatable nature of the examples, the creativity with the visual aids. M3 Workshop was a timely wake-up call. I particularly appreciate how Dr. Abraham empathised with young adults and their exuberance without being judgemental. Sharing some parts of his own journey also made the workshop interesting and relatable. The arrangement of the modules was really thoughtful as it made it easier to connect with the new concepts. He made talking about God so interesting. Teaching is in Dr Abraham’s core; he is indeed blessed with wisdom for his life’s purpose. I now have a renewed sense of responsibility about what I do with my time in school, a renewed interest in organising my physical and mental space.

I'm quite laid back; I just wasn't intentional to drive good success. With the teaching, I came in with the hope to gain traction. The experience was amazing and impactful. Many things stood out for me, first, the introduction, it watered my appetite and got me and other leaders fired up. I loved the perspective given to the topic; it was encapsulating, from start to finish, particularly the relatable analogies and life experiences and the structure. I gained a perspective to balance between mere survival and my journey to global relevance with a better understanding of the skills needed. I think the major thing is struggled with was with identifying the vision and setting the goals, and often times procrastination sets in, but hearing you reminded us of the opportunity called time; it was a real wakeup call. I must confess, I had a pre-conceived idea that it was going to be one of those "aspire to acquire" sessions, but my expectation was dis-appointed. This session is the best I have heard (in a while) as to setting goals and I particularly loved the God view to goals and visions. You reminded me of things that I've overlooked. I sat back and pondered (still is pondering) on many things you shared, but the one that still resonates is how our Spirit maps, our Mind moulds and our body moves our goals and visions. I also loved the simplicity and subtle force in your ministration. May the Lord bless and replenish you. Thank you so much sir. I am definitely on a better track now as a result of this. I have decided to evaluate the motive behind many of my goals and submit to the will of the master.

I was able to sit down to clarify life, redefine my steps

Before I came on the Life Harmony Challenge, I had self- esteem/self- confidence issues. The Life Harmony challenge was a life changing adventure for me. It defined various prospects of my life and how I saw these things. In less than 10 days, I was able to sit down to clarify life, redefine my steps on how to achieve these goals, think deeply to identify the obstacles and how to take actions for these things and most importantly, aligning my career, lifestyle and others with my life purpose. I loved the teachings and the coaching session. The teachings were so relatable; I loved the part where we needed to go to think deeply about life, answering those questions. Lastly, the coaching session was far above my expectations, I could easily relate with the Coach. He was so ready and willing to put me through, to explain areas I found challenging. This is one experience that I would love to relieve each time

Before the bootcamp, I was confused about my career and purpose. I’ve gotten clarity; this is one experience that I would love to relieve each time. I would love to go over the sessions time and time again, it was a beautiful experience. Each session was detailed; the teaching aids were highly engaging. I love that it made me think through every session. Abraham Owoseni is an amazing teacher, detailed with a high communication skill. I pray he reaches every height God has destined him to.
